Who runs this site
ResearchReady is an independent project operated by Brian Pitts, MD, MEHP. It is not a UC Davis Health–sanctioned application or service, and it is not endorsed by, operated by, or affiliated with UC Davis Health, the UC Davis School of Medicine, or the University of California.
What we collect
ResearchReady is designed to collect as little as possible. The assessments work without an account; a free account (email only, no password) is needed only for AI-assisted feedback.
- Your work in the tools — assessment answers, project descriptions, and method selections — is kept in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device unless you request AI-assisted feedback, and resetting a tool (or clearing your browser data) removes it.
- If you create a free account, we store your email address, the time you confirmed it (with the confirming IP address, as evidence of your double opt-in consent), and a daily count of your AI requests used for fair-use limits. Verification codes are stored only in hashed form. We send email through SendGrid solely to deliver verification codes.
- While you are signed in, we keep an operational record of your activity: when you sign in (with the IP address and browser of that sign-in), the pages you visit within the app, and actions such as generating, saving, or exporting a report. We use this to operate the service, enforce fair-use limits, and detect abuse — not for advertising or marketing.
- If you request AI-assisted feedback, your project description is sent to our server and forwarded to an AI provider solely to generate the response returned to you. We do not store these requests or responses — only the daily count.
- Our hosting provider generates standard, short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and request path) used to operate and secure the service.
We do not sell your data, serve advertising, or use third-party tracking or analytics for marketing purposes.
How we use it
Your inputs are used solely to power the tools you are using in the moment — scoring your readiness assessment, walking the statistical decision tree, and generating your IRB roadmap. AI-assisted feedback is generated on demand and is not used to build profiles or train models on our behalf.
Storage, security, and access
We do not maintain a database of your research content. Your in-progress work exists only in your own browser; reports you export (for example, as PDF) are generated on your device and saved wherever you choose. Requests for AI-assisted feedback are transmitted over encrypted connections and are not retained after the response is returned. Account records (email, confirmation, daily usage counts, and the sign-in and activity history described above) are stored in a managed database and are accessible only to the operator.
Your control
Your research content never leaves your device except to generate the feedback you request, so it is always in your hands — resetting a tool clears your in-progress work. To delete your account records, reply to any of our emails or write to info@researchready.me and we will remove them. ResearchReady provides educational guidance and does not collect, and should not be given, patient information or other protected health information.
